This is my first Harley and it made me realize I waited too long. I've been riding off and on for 35 yrs. but my '08 FLSTC is pure joy. Special kudos to the service dept. After a year, I felt the need for more power. I talked to the guys and explained my need for speed and in minutes they presented a formula for the performance I wanted. The work was done in short order and THEY NAILED IT! It's exactly what I wanted. It's not a beast, but it ain't no kitten either. For performance tuning, Joe is the man. They hooked me up with a 103ci kit that rocks! They have a copy of my dyno chart, so you can verify these numbers. I went from 59hp to 96hp and 74fp to 104fp. Enough said! Thanks again men. You were very helpful, encouraging , very informative and attentive to my questions. Steve, the sales associate, let me sit on a Blast when I came to the store and was also patient with me. The course was great, and my instructor Styx, was the reason that I didn't quit and why I learned so much. I had many challenges facing me, including my height of barley 5 feet and small shoe size (timberlands size 2)...Styx made me feel comfortable. He encouraged all of us, and went through things step-by-step and slowly. He helped to build my confidence and even after laying my bike down three times on the first day, I came back to at least try again. I think Styx's personality made the learning environment more fun and therfore diffused some anxiety. I can genuinely tell that Styx and the Harley-Davidson of Maryland staff are passionate about riding.

"i have been taking my Harley Davidson motorcycles to your service department since 2006. And I have to say your service department is the best around. I've bought parts and accessories in the store too over the years and everyone I deal with is knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to help. The service department though deserves extra kudos. On multiple occasions they have surpassed my expectations and have always delivered as promised. To give one great example, just last week I had my Softail Crossbones in for service because of a faulty riser on the handlebars. The part was backordered so in order to have the bike in time for Labor Day weekend I authorized them to ship the part overnight and I would pay the freight. The part didn't arrive in time. Even though it was shipped overnight from HD. So on the Friday before the holiday weekend at 2:30pm Keith calls me and tells me the bad news. Hearing the dissapointment in my voice he simply says "We'll get you your bike in time for the weekend." I arrived at the service dept at 6:30 that evening to find that my bike was ready. They barrowed the needed part off a new bike or from another kit so I would have my bike for the weekend. I was so grateful for their extra effort. I asked how much I owed, thinking even though the service was under warranty I would still owe the overnight freight costs, and keith simply said "nothing. The part didn't arrive in time, so you shouldn't have to pay the freight on it." Wow! What a great bunch of guys in the service department. They really look out for the customer, and strive to go above and beyond every time. I will always take my Harleys to HD of Maryland for service. And the next time I go to make a new bike purchase, you will be my first stop. Thank you so much for your great service and great people."

I just wanted to take a quick minute before I head out to let you know what a great job Tony & Mike did! Kudos. Yesterday, the day of the evaluation was miserable hot, we all were starting to talk about coming back within 30 days to take it, and they really encouraged us to push through it! All of us ladies had been talking afterwards, while waiting for the results, and we ALL agreed pass or failed we all enjoyed the class and took something from it!
We ALL loved the ladies only class. There were three students from last week who came to retest, one a woman. She commented on how great it was, we all encouraged each other, cheered each other on, coached, and less pressure was felt!
In talking with several people who have taken the class all seem to think that more confiedence would be felt going into the exam if they had more "practice" time. 2 days of riding/coaching 1/2 day practice and review than exam. Now I cant see how a schedule would allow and I think the instructors work hard enough anyway but I put it out there, I heard it said by more than 3 and 2 of them scored perfects on written and riding!
Lastly, I just think its important for you to know that your instructors have a great reputation as far as Carroll County! I have a cousin who when she learned I was taking it through Elkridge, said they were the BEST. She lives in Taneytown so I asked how in the world she knew and she said most everyone she knows who takes the class through Harley has traveled to Elkridge for the class because they have the best instructors! So, you guys have a great reputation, your doing a great job, keep up the good work!

As Missy "might" remember, I actually signed up for the class about 3 years ago and couldn't make because of work related challenges at the time. I found the class both very informative and helpful. The classroom sessions were very good. Especially helpful were studying and learning the various acronyms most helpful in riding - SEE, T-CLOCS, FINE-C, and TKV amongst others, and then applying them on the range. The riding skills and associated practice was great. I really valued the coaching that both of you provided to me, as well as to others. It was also great to have the class taught by the two of you with so much riding experience.
Tony and Mike, on a personal note, I found the two of you professional, fun, effective, challenging, and interested in and caring about your students success. Of note, I remember seeing Tony jump for joy (literally) when Donna effectively navigated the 135 degree turn successfully. Also, seeing Mike offer personal 1:1 coaching to all of us, beginners or experienced, as needed. You guys make a good team.

"Yesterday June 2nd, I was on my 07 Road King riding home from work. Approaching a light, I down shifted and the front arm on my "heal-toe" shifter went to the floor. So with one hand on the clutch and the other on the shift linkage, I manually put the bike into third gear, and headed for the Elkridge dealer...slowly.
Upon arriving at the service department I described my situation to Earl, who promptly headed out to my bike to take a look. He quickly diagnosed that the shifter arm and shifter axle were both stripped and needed to be replaced. BUT instead of having me make an appointment for some other time, Earl replaced the parts right there on the sidewalk. Had me up and running in under 15 minutes.
Keep in mind that the service department was busy yesterday. They could have easily pushed me off to a later date. The fact that they took such great care of me, as a walk in, impressed me greatly. This is not the first time I have been impressed with the Elkridge service department. I highly recommend using these guys for all you bike maintenance needs, after yesterday I know I will.

My name is Scott, I was a part of class 192 earlier this week. I have ridden in the past, but not regularly for a number of years. Recently I got an old Iron Head that has proven to be a challenge on many different levels, not the least of which was to show me that I did not have the same confidence I had years ago, nor the (perceived) skills.
I enrolled in the class mostly to get the motorcycle endorsement, and hopefully learn something as an added bonus. The result was just the opposite. I received knowledge, skills ( I never knew, when I was younger and wiser), and mostly confidence, and as an added bonus, the motorcycle endorsement.
This unforseen experience is due to much hard work, I am sure, on everyones part to put together such a training program. Our instructors (facilitators) were Kim and Tony, and I believe that without these two the experience would have been great, but would have fallen short to what they accomplished. They treated everyone with respect, taught thru both wisdom and experience, and exuded a passion for riding safely that everyone could feel.
We were all given instruction and encouragement, yet when we didn't accomplish what they knew we could do, they would make sure we could tell them what we did wrong and then agree with us that the last attempt was "a stinker".
Riders Edge ,and I, are both very lucky to have these two envolved with the program.

"I picked my bike up this last weekend, after having it in storage for the winter. While there, I had multiple parts added to my bike for safety and the tune up done. All I can say, is that Mike, Joe and Alex; did a FANTASTIC job on my bike. Momma (wife) was SO happy with everything that had been done on the bike, and with how it looked; that she can't wait to spend as much time as possible on it this year (it even seems to have a little more power, and shifts easier). Recently, I completed the Riders Edge Program (4/28/08 thru4/30/08) with Missy Burke and Kim Dillard. My success in the program is largely attributed to Missy and Kim’s knowledge, experience and dedication to safe and proper motorcycle skills.
When I decided to take this course, I certainly had my fair share of reservations and fear. But any reluctancies were put to ease as the program progressed. Each instructor had a knack of recognizing their student’s insecurities and was readily available to offer guidance and support.

I have a 01 1200XLH that has been transformed. In 06, I entered my ride in the timonium show. It was the first time ever to be in a show. I figure if you are going to enter something, then enter big. I took first place in mild custom with six in that class. It wasn't the trophy I cared about, it was the experience of getting the parts, working on the bike with my wife and daughters. "We went to old glory and when we went in no one helped us and when they finally came over the man did not know what he was talking about. We asked if their was any specials and his answer is we do not do special we do not have to. Well little did he know that we were ready to spend $55,000 on 3 bikes. We came to your location because my son bought his first bike with you and was very happy. When we came in Patrick greeted us, answered all of our quetions, did not rush us, and stayed with until my husband and I made a decision on a bike. Immediatly when you arrive you are impressed that you are not "Tackled" by Salesmen, when you are approached by the staff they are extremely polite and better stated they "listen to you" then start to size up your needs. Issues, I never considered where addressed in the presentation of the motorcycle. After arriving home I went to the Website, and realized I had just spent 3/4 of a hour with the "Sales Manager" whom of all people you dont expect to be out on the floor being one of the guys working with a customer. He was execeptional, and it was his persona and professionalism that stayed with a few days, while trying to make up my mind. "Over the last five years, I've visited all the Harley dealerships in the Baltimore, Annapolis, St. Mary's area. I've never owned a motorcycle. On December 6th, 2006, I revisited your dealership and Tim Davis helped me out with my decision to purchase my first motorcycle, my first Harley Davidson. He never talked down to me as most of the sales people did from the other dealerships. He patiently explained all the benefits of each model.
I left that day, having made a decision to purchase a Standard. I’m writing this letter to inform you of my recent visit to the Service Department with my warranty repair on my 2005 Road King. The Road King had a very unusual vibration, which another Harley Davidson dealership called not excessive and another dealership that stated it was normal. Your service technicians verified my complaint on a Saturday and than made an appointment to get it serviced. I dropped it off the following week for service. I was updated regularly on the progress and was informed it would take some time but the technicians never left any doubt that they would find and repair the problem. Sure enough the repairs were made and I’m now riding a bike that is vibration free and fun to ride again. I couldn't have asked for better service from Tom, Earl and Carlos. I appreciate their diligence in finding and fixing the problem that truly went beyond the call of duty. The entire Service Department was prompt, considerate, and thorough, during the repair.

"First of all, let me start by saying "thank you". For your patience and understanding with my situation.
It has been about 20 years since I have been on a street bike. When I started to pursue the option of getting a "toy", there was nothing but a Harley to consider. The large dealer network, knowledgable staff, and high resale and marketability of the bike made it my only choice to consider. The sales department worked with me to try and find my comfort level and ultimately made the suggestion of my 2005 Sportster 883 Custom. Good choice, just the right bike to get to know the street again.
I drove the bike home and hated it!Scared to death of the street and all the trucks! I called the dealership the next day to discuss my options of getting out of it. They reassured me that this happens and offered several possible solutions to my situation. The conversation turned from understanding to encouragement for me. I am glad I made the call.
Meanwhile, 2 months later, I have all my friends, and new ones, taken me out and I love it! My wife is in the store and on line more than I am. It is true that the Harley folks are friends and it is a way of life. I have joined the local H.O.G. Chapter and am looking forward to the meeting and events.
In closing, thanks to Rick, Russell, and Kevin and the ones I dont know the names of for making me feel at home and welcome and turning what I thought was a bad decision into a new way of life. Thanks to all !!!!

Toby Sonn and Worth Kerr were the instructors and I want to say that
they made the class very interesting. I think that they were excellent
instructors. They started from scratch (especially with one woman that
until that class had no idea what the concept of a clutch was either on
a motorcycle or a car) and I believe that the building block method was
very successful.
By the time they were done everyone had a good understanding of riding
but I think also of the fact that this is just the beginning of the
learning curve and there are major limitations to our abilities at this
time.
I came away from the class with confidence and a desire to continue.
